RESEARCH PROFILE

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising cancer treatment modality whereby a photosensitizer can be activated by visible light to catalytically transform molecular oxygen to reactive oxygen species (ROS), inducing cancer cell death. Job is currently working on the development of water-soluble metal organic cages capable of encapsulating photosensitizers for PDT. This research aims at augmenting PDT efficacy by reducing aggregating, enhancing ROS yields and photophysical properties, and steering biological properties such as cellular uptake and localization of photosensitizers.
