University of Amsterdam, Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences, Homogeneous, Supramolecular and Bio-Inspired Catalysis.

The general aim of the catalysis group is the development of new catalysts for known and new important conversions, a challenge that we like to approach in a multidisciplinary fashion including the introduction of supramolecular and bio-inspired concepts. We develop catalysts for reactions that are currently important in industry, such as hydroformylation and hydrogenation, but we also develop catalysts with new reactivity that allow shorter synthetic routes and the conversion of biomass. Catalysis is also important for the generation of solar-fuel and as such we develop catalysts for water oxidation, proton and CO2 reduction and we study how to generate solar fuel devices based on such molecular components.
